Jimmy Lai is a Hong Kong businessman and politician. He founded the clothing retailer Giordano, the media company Next Digital, the magazine Next and the newspaper Apple Daily. He was found guilty in December 2025 of two counts of conspiring to collude with foreign forces under the Beijing-imposed national security law, and a third count of sedition under colonial-era legislation and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
